You'll love the way they explain all the topics.I did it, it worked. I'll make it quick: it's very simple, you want the SCJP. Thanks a lot Kathy and Bert. Great book.I got SCJP6 with 88%, using this book alone. Buy this book and study, make some annotations and read it again. When you're finished do a lot of mock exams and when you're doing well in the mocks, you're ready for the real test.
so i dont know about the product. im not receive the book(now 50 days passed), because of poor service.
It also helped me to gap knowledge and be a better coder. This SCJP book is very good for preparing the exam, as well as a learning material. I studied the book, and successfully passed the exam.
I actually became confident in Java after reading this book. I failed Java certification 3 times using 3 other books. The writing style is simple and easy to understand. Highly recommend this. I simply didn't want to let go. I got this book and passed the exam, and I have to say, this book helped me understand the nuances of Java.
Seeing as the authors also wrote the tests, that's not surprising. This was my main reference used in preparing for the exam and passed it on the first try. I would suggest that as you read the chapters and encounter some unclear or ambiguous cases, or if you have questions about some of what they're saying, you should take note of them in a notebook, and then write some small tests to clear up any questions you may be having. I learned a few more details on Java that I never knew before, mainly because I've never really gone into reading the Java language spec. If you do the Self-Test quizzes at the end of each chapter consistently, you should have no problems, as I found they were often harder than the questions I encountered in the certification exam. Some of the questions I had in the exam were just slightly different from some examples in the book.
